4. Free Agent Auction Draft occurs each year a few weeks before the regular season. All unsigned players including unsigned, undrafted, or cut drafted players are available to the highest bidder.
5. Upon winning a player at auction the owner must decide for how long they would like to sign the player to a contract. Minimum length of contract is 1 year, maximum length is 5 years.
a. The owner is obligated to continue paying the player at their salary for the duration of the contract unless the owner cuts or drops the player.
b. Should an owner wish to cut a multi-year contracted player during the season, they will take a 10% salary cap hit towards next seasons Salary Cap. (Example, team cuts a $10 player, that team will start the next season with $499 Salary Cap instead of $500) (more details in the "cuts" section of the rules)
c. There is no salary cap penalty to cut a player in-season that is in the final year of their contract.
d. There is a 10% salary inflation rate starting with the 2nd year of a contracted player, per year, per keeper with a minimum inflation amount of $1 (rounded up to the nearest $... example... if you have a $21 player signed for 5 years, the contract would look like this: year 1 $21, year 2 $23, year 3 $25, year 4 $28, year 5 $31.
6. For players received in trade, current contract is inherited and you cannot renegotiate the contract or amount of years. (See trade rules for more details about trading)
7. When a player's contract year reaches 0, they return to the Free Agent Pool and auctioned before the start of the season at the Free Agent Auction Draft. Each team has the option to resign their player if they are the highest bidder at the Free Agent Auction Draft and has 1 franchise tag option.
